Message: Here's a great article I found at www.northwestnavigator.com: -- Cmdr. Lyle E. Hoag relieved Cmdr. Kevin D. Jones as commanding officer of the ballistic missile submarine USS Henry M. Jackson (HMJ) (SSBN 730) in a change of command ceremony held April 14 at the Jackson Park Chapel. “I count it a privilege and an honor to be called upon to speak on behalf of this change of command ceremony for the HMJ,” said retired Capt. James R. Righter, guest speaker for the event. Jones was presented with an award and then gave his remarks in which he thanked his family for the sacrifices they made, and then he went on to address his crew. “Today is a great day,” said Jones. “Not because I’m leaving the command, but rather it is another milestone in the life of HMJ. This change of command is a very special ceremony.” Jones showed his appreciation for all those who attended and to everyone who supported him throughout his time aboard HMJ. He attributed all the success of the submarine to its crew and gave them words of encouragement “Thank all of you for making this possible,” said Jones. “We have shared many milestones on the HMJ in these short twenty-eight months, but camaraderie was the glue which held us together. Today you go forward with a new commanding officer with greater potential, so set your standards high and you will find the impossible become possible.” HMJ incoming commanding officer, Hoag, thanked guests and took a moment to openly recognize the crew for their tireless efforts and determination. “To my crew, your achievements over the last year have been phenomenal,” said Hoag. “I’ve seen your dedication and it is clear I have a team that will give their all. It’s that determination to continue and improve which separates the great from the good. I’m privileged and look forward to working with each of you to continue building onto the success you’ve accomplished.” http://www.northwestnavigator.com/index.php/navigator/regionalnews/command_of_uss_henry_m_jackson_changes/
