Message: Here's a great article I found at www.northwestnavigator.com: -- Representatives are traveling to each Navy base in the Northwest to tell Sailors about the unique opportunities available at the Naval Special Warfare Development Group (NSWDG). The group provides research and development support for the Navy’s special warfare community. “Our group is the only one of its kind in the Navy,” Senior Chief Yeoman (AW) Jennifer Grace said. “We are looking for top performers, and have the ability to hand-pick from the best in the Fleet. These jobs aren’t advertised on JASS (the Navy’s computerized job advertising and selection system), so this is the only way for Sailors to find out about what we do.” NSWDG is located in Virginia Beach, VA. The command is responsible for the development, testing and evaluation of state-of-the-art, commercially procured and modified equipment in support of Naval Special Warfare operational forces. “If you come to work with us, you will be granted more authority and more responsibility than you’ve ever had before,” said Intelligence Specialist Master Chief(SW/AW) Rick Beaber. “The Chief of Naval Operations has designated NSWDG a priority one command, and we make sure you have everything you need to do your job.” That job is to work hand-in-hand with Navy SEALS, Explosive Ordinance Disposal technicians and Special Warfare Combat Craft crew to ensure that the newest technologies are acquired and adapted for use throughout the special warfare community. Support personnel take part in all phases of procurement, development and testing of equipment in their area of expertise. On Thursday, 17 Mar, NSWDG recruiters briefed more than fifty interested servicemembers at Naval Station Everett. “I am definitely interested in this program,” said Yeoman 1st Class(SW/AW) Irene Sin-cere of NAVSTA Everett’s security department. “The job sounds like a real challenge. Yeomen don’t always get to do many exciting things, and this is a chance to be part of something interesting and important.” Sailors chosen for the program go through an extensive screening process, and selectees must agree to serve four years at NSWDG. Both male and female applicants are accepted from more than 20 Navy rates.
