Message: Here's a great article I found at www.northwestnavigator.com: -- Three Sailors from VAQ-138 received the Navy And Marine Corps Achievement Medal on March 4 aboard USS Carl Vinson (CVN 70) for their work during the recent Aviation Maintenance Inspection administered to Carrier Air Wing Nine. VAQ-138 performed exceptionally well on the inspection and received top honors with the best results from the entire Air Wing. The Aviation Maintenance Inspection indicated that VAQ-138 is an effective, safe and procedurally compliant maintenance organization. VAQ-138 demonstrated safe routine operations through successful accomplishments of all 19 proficiency examinations. Positive results were attained in programs that frequently have discrepancies throughout the fleet. These included maintenance training, quality assurance, tool control, corrosion prevention-control, plane captain qualification, central technical publications library and technical directives. While the outstanding results were a result of efforts by the whole Yellow Jacket team, three Sailors received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for their extraordinary personal performance. AE1(AW/NAC) Kevin Boudreaux displayed outstanding leadership, directing a complete review of over 164 maintenance qualification records and ensuring the scheduling of specialized technical training. AZ2(SW) Danielle Graham displayed incredible managerial ability and an untiring work ethic while she transformed an “off track” program into one of model status prior to the inspection. AE1(AW) Mark Flippen spearheaded the revitalization of 28 “off track” maintenance programs and processes. He forged all quality assurance managed programs into model status and was crucial to the commands flawless performance during the inspections. All three Sailor’s efforts were applauded by the Naval Air Forces Inspectors and contributed directly to the results of “best in Carrier Air Wing Nine.” “I cannot express enough how proud I am to be at the helm of such a great team of Sailors,” said Cmdr. William Jensen. “The efforts of the Yellow Jackets have been well founded, incredibly persistent and unquestionably dedicated. Their hard work during the inspection is just a small example of their performance as a unified Yellow Jacket team and their attitude towards our current deployment.” While three Sailors received the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, five other Yellow Jackets were awarded Good Conduct Medals for their dedicated commitment and “trouble free” time in the Navy. AM1 Richard Church, IS2 Jillian Cardoza, CTT2 Jason Weatherly, AZ3 Andre Clark and PN3 Cindy Tampasis all received the Good Conduct award. VAQ-138 is currently deployed to the Arabian Gulf aboard Vinson in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. http://www.northwestnavigator.com/index.php/navigator/regionalnews/yellow_jackets_win_awards/
