Everett Navy Lodge and Navy Gateway Inns and Suites celebrate National Hospitality and Housekeepers

Staff at the Navy Lodge and Navy Gateway Inns and Suites took some down time during National Hospitality and Housekeepers Week, Sept.
14-20, to play games, build morale, and most importantly recognize the hard work and dedication of the employees. This year’s events
included a Hospitality Olympics, luncheon and awards ceremony.
According to Beverly Armstrong, manager at the Smokey Point Navy Lodge, the purpose of the celebration is two-fold. “The events are designed
to show our appreciation to all of our associates and recognize the good job they do every day,” she said. “We pamper them and say thank you
in as many ways as we can think of,” she continued. “This year our guests even wanted to participate in the events.”
The highlight of the week was the Hospitality Olympics, consisting of a toilet paper toss, towel folding contest, toilet paper pyramid building,
scavenger hunt and roll-away bed race. There were plenty of smiles and laughter as well as camaraderie as participants raced, stacked and folded.
Throughout the week, staff proudly displayed their medals, awarded to the top three places in each event.
On Friday, Sept. 19, employees from both establishments gathered at the Navy Gateway Inn and Suites to enjoy a lunch and small awards ceremony.
Naval Station Everett executive officer, Cmdr. Dan Limberg, presented the appreciation awards to the staff.
Each year, both the Navy Lodge and Navy Gateway Inn and Suites, around the globe, celebrates National Hospitality and Housekeepers week.
