Pizza, wings and fellowship

In celebration of all the hard work military personnel do throughout the week, the Naval Base Kitsap Chapel staff have began hosting a pizza fellowship every Thursday from 11 to 1 p.m. in the @EEZ building. On Jan. 27, Sailors from several tenant commands gathered to enjoy pizza, wings, soda and all of the added luxuries of @EEZ.

Sailors clean up the highway

Sailors from Naval Base Kitsap volunteered Jan. 28 for the quarterly Adopt-a-Highway clean up. The 18 Sailors picked up trash along side of the Gorst section on Highway three from 8 to 11 a.m.

TTF hosts SLAMEX

When a submarine is in dry dock it’s a little bit difficult for Submariners to hone their at- sea skills if they are not underway, so in order to build upon their readiness capabilities Trident Training Facility (TTF) on Naval Base Kitsap has incorporated the Sea Launched Attack Missile Exercise (SLAMEX) into their training sessions. SLAMEX is usually performed at sea, but it can also be used in port to train Strike Group staffs, firing units and operators in all aspects of cruise missile employment, data base management and operation of installed tactical data processors. Several local Sub Sailors got to participate in the quarterly SLAMEX Jan. 20. TTF is the first ashore facility to participate in this weeklong exercise.

Got your name on the list? How about a boarding pass? Do you need your luggage prepped or cargo manifested? Such questions, and answers, must be dealt with before anyone makes it up to the flight deck of USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). There’s only one location to address any and all queries, and that’s the Air Transportation Office (ATO).

PSNBA presents sub model to BOSA

In support of the Dolphin Scholarship Foundation, the Puget Sound Naval Bases Association (PSNBA) presented the Bangor Officer’s Spouses Association (BOSA) with a USS Ohio (SSGN 726) submarine model on behalf of Adm. F.L. Bowman (Ret.) to bid on during the spring 2005 auction. The presentation was made at the Bangor chapel on Naval Base Kitsap Jan. 19.
