When a young Jerry Dixon would rise at 4:30 a.m. every morning to help with chores on his family’s rural Colorado farm, little did he know that it would lead to a lifetime of challenging work. Dixon enjoys hard work and still rises at 4:30 a.m. each morning. 

“I’m not a big TV man,” Dixon said. “I have a few favorite news programs but I’d really rather be doing something, solving problems at work or building things in my shop.”

Doing something includes inventorying and accounting for $422 million in training equipment and performing financial accounting at the Trident Training Facility, Bangor where he has been named Employee of the Quarter for the 1st quarter 2004.

Having been the property accountant for several years, vacancies occurred in financial accounting and Dixon stepped up to take on additional responsibilities to help the command. 

This was a little intimidating since Dixon had minimal financial accounting experience, but he dug in and learned the job in short order. This is nothing new to Dixon who has been successfully tackling challenges all of his life. 

Following a highly successful 30 year Navy career in which he served as Commander, Sub-marine Pacific’s Force Master Chief, Dixon built and remodeled homes, was a six-figure insurance salesman, management analyst, audio-visual specialist and now property and financial accountant. 

“Jerry is just a great employee,” said supervisor Peggie Pet-teys. “He is key to our maintaining STARS-FL General Ledger accounts, memo records, direct OPTAR and credit card obligations. This is in addition to his regular property accounting duties. He is a can-do, competent and versatile person that I can depend upon to get things done. I’m very glad that he is here.”
