Chief Culinary Specialist (SW/AW) Bron Young is NBK's new Command Managed Equal Opportunity (CMEO) advisor.

A Command Managed Equal Opportunity (CMEO) advisor ensures that the Department of the Navy’s Equal Opportunity Policy is followed by all command personnel.

As Naval Base Kitsap’s new CMEO advisor, Chief Culinary Specialist (SW/AW) Bron Young, leading chief petty officer of bachelor enlisted quarters at Bangor, proactively prevents equal opportunity discrimination by training command personnel on Navy rights and responsibilities. But if a complaint arises he is also the go-to person.

Young volunteered for the position because of his strong commitment to a cohesive Navy.

“I like to help people. People are what make the Navy run. If they are happy to come to work then they are more productive and that’s what makes the Navy a strong war fighting machine,” said Young.

The CMEO is available to ensure that any and all allegations of equal opportunity discrimination based on race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, disability or reprisals are resolved in an efficient and effective manner.

He is responsible for collecting the facts on allegations of discrimination and forwarding them up the chain of command for further review and action.

Young is available for anyone who needs help, whether it be junior, senior personnel or Sailors from another command, he is happy to help or at least steer them in the right direction.

In most cases, individuals feeling the need to talk to the CMEO should make sure they have utilized their chain of command to its fullest before seeking the help of the advisor.

“Today’s naval leaders are strong and can usually help personnel within their chain of command at the lowest possible level,” said Young.

But if someone needs the help of a CMEO advisor, Young’s door is always open in Bldg. 2300 at Bangor. To make an appointment, call him at (360) 396-4046/6686.
