In celebration of all the hard work military personnel do throughout the week, the Naval Base Kitsap Chapel staff have began hosting a pizza fellowship every Thursday from 11 to 1 p.m. in the @EEZ building. On Jan. 27, Sailors from several tenant commands gathered to enjoy pizza, wings, soda and all of the added luxuries of @EEZ.

“This type of fellowship allows the chapel staff to do something nice for the troops, and it also makes us more visible to them, so they know who we are and where they can find us when they need assistance with a crisis,” said Lt. Cmdr. Ed Carroll, NBK Protestant chaplain.

Carroll went on to say that this is the best way to give back to the sons and daughters of our military.

“It is a great feeling to have a Sailor thank me for doing something nice for them. They’re appreciative of our gesture because its not everyday someone they don’t interact with day in and day out offers to buy them lunch,” added Carroll.

With a surplus of food to keep everyone’s bellies filled, it was the company that was especially nice for one attendee.

“I think it’s a really great thing the chapel is doing because it gets people out of their work spaces and into an environment where they can interact with people they might not necessarily get to encounter on a day to day basis, said Seaman Recruit Sheryl Martinez, NBK Career Information Center.

The next pizza and fellowship takes place Feb. 10 in the @EEZ center.
