Sailors attend RIT brief

Sailors from around the Puget Sound had the opportunity to address their questions, comments and concerns about Revolution in Training (RIT), Navy Knowledge Online (NKO) and the Five Vector Model (5VM) during a presentation by Alex Watt, Naval Personnel Development Center (NPDC) Pacific representative at the Trident Training Facility’s Brigg Auditorium Jan. 10.
During the presentation Watt gave an overview of RIT, learning centers, training support organizations and the integrated learning environment. Watt also touched on the specifics of 5VM, what Sailors can see today and what they should be doing with that information today with NKO and its E-Learning opportunities.
“This presentation was excellent. This is what the Sailors need to know. He answered a lot of the questions I am asked on a daily basis. I hope to get him to come back and do a presentation at NAS Whidbey Island,” said CMDCM(SS) Wayne Lassiter, Naval Oceanic Processing Facility Whidbey.
According to Watt, keeping Sailors up to date on this information will definitely help guide them in the right direction for their careers.
“RIT is an integral part of their success and that is why their feedback to RIT and NKO is indispensable. Their participation will ensure that their 5VM is accurate and relevant so they can take that tool and map out their futures and go as fast as they choose to go.”
According to Lassiter, having these types of training are vital, and everyone should attend one when they get a chance.
“Communicating with the Sailors is how we make better Sailors even better. Communication is a wonderful thing. The more Sailors on the deck plate know about their career, the better they will be at doing their jobs,” said Lassiter.
