Do I go to work when it snows?

It’s time to remember what to do when you wake up, realize it snowed overnight and wonder if you have to go to work today. Whidbey Island can get a light dusting or 10-plus inches, depending on where you live. It’s been known to snow here as early as mid-November and late as March.

Your safety is important. Slip sliding on icy roads in the dark during blizzard conditions is the last thing any employer or your supervisor would ask.

You need to have some basic information readily available at home, in your wallet or in your car, not at the office or in the work center so you can find out what’s going on before you head out.

During icy and snowy conditions, Langley Blvd. will be closed to through traffic; its steep grade makes it difficult to navigate safely.

Charles Porter Gate will remain open around the clock for two-way traffic while Langley Blvd. gate is secured.

Traffic patterns at remaining Ault Field and Seaplane Base gates are subject to change, sometimes without prior notice. Speed limits on Charles Porter Ave. and Torpedo Rd. will also be reduced.

Security personnel will be on duty to help ensure your safety. Please give them the courtesy and respect they deserve.
