USS Momsen (DDG 92), currently underway with Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 9 are underway made a recent port visit to Victoria, Seychelles where they took part in a few community relations projects.

USS Momsen (DDG 92) recently arrived in Victoria, Seychelles, marking its fourth international port visit as part of USS
Abraham Lincoln Strike Group 2008 deployment.
The unique port visit affords Momsen’s crew of 300 Sailors to experience the culture and hospitality of Seychelles. Sailors
spent time sightseeing and participating in a variety of friendship-building and community-service projects of the host country.
Momsen, an Arleigh Burke-Class Guided-Missile Destroyer, is commanded by Cmdr. Michael Sparks and is home ported in Everett.
Although Momsen’s crew relishes opportunities to visit foreign ports, this routine port visit supported the longstanding
U.S. commitment to peace and security in this vital region of the world.
While in Victoria, the crew worked two community relations projects, painting a local clinic and revamping a wildlife reserve.
Additionally, Momsen Sailors executed a training package developed by CJTF-HOA’s country coordination element to train
Seychelles Coast Guard in damage control and fire fighting.
“Port visits are the best part of deployments,” said Sparks. “Not only do they afford Sailors the opportunity to experience new
places and cultures, but they also strengthen the partnerships between maritime nations.”
USS Momsen, as part of the USS Abraham Lincoln Strike Group, is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations supporting
operations that are focused on reassuring regional partners of the United States’ commitment to security, which promotes
stability and global prosperity.
