NAS Whidbey Island is looking for a new ombudsman
Michelle Cloud, who has served the command as ombudsman at NAS Whidbey Island for close to three years, will transfer with her husband, Postal Clerk 2nd Class Palae Cloud and their two children in September. A replacement for her is now needed.
Requirements for an ombudsman are to:
Provide information and outreach to command family members; refer those in need of professional assistance to appropriate resources;
Attend monthly ombudsman Assembly meetings;
Attend other meetings as necessary;
Maintain the strictest confidentiality (this is crucial);
Be an active participant in command functions and/or support groups, but not lead or be in charge of these groups;
Attend ombudsman training at the next available time;
Have your contact information available to necessary personnel at NAS Whidbey Island;
Realize that this will not enhance your Sailor’s career; this is strictly a volunteer position.
If your Sailor is attached to NAS Whidbey Island and you are interested in becoming an ombudsman, please e-mail Michelle Cloud at with your contact information and address the following:
Why you would like to be an ombudsman.
What qualities you possess that would enable you to be an ombudsman.
Any experience you may have as an ombudsman or related roles.
Your availability to go to monthly assembly meetings.
What confidentiality means to you.
Anything else you think is important to be considered for the job.
