DAPS now waving ‘We Are DLA’ flag
“We Are DLA” is the motto being pushed by the government’s leader in printing services. Document Automation and Production Service, better known as DAPS to its customers, is now answering to the name of Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Document Services.
Since 1996, DAPS was an activity of the Defense Logistics Agency, the nation’s combat logistics support agency that has a continually boosted its role in serving America’s warfighters.
The agency recently initiated the campaign “We Are DLA” to increase awareness of its comprehensive mission, products and services and to provide a clearer and more definitive identity for itself.
According to DLA officials the DAPS name change to DLA Document Services “unifies and builds a more cohesive DLA enterprise and allows the now DLA Document Services to achieve its full potential as part of the agency’s team serving the military.”
DLA Document Services has been the document solutions provider for the Department of Defense for more than 60 years. The organization offers a full portfolio of services including printing, duplicating, conversion, retrieval, output, and distribution of documents and the procurement of these services from commercial sources.
The office also offers its customers the supply and management of copiers and multifunction devices that scan, copy, fax and print.
And in the ever growing digital world, DLA is placing more and more emphasis on its role in transitioning its customers to the increasing usage of online documents.
Locally, DLA Document Services Office Group is located at Naval Base Kitsap, Bangor in building 1100. The office group oversees a total 14 military and federal locations in 10 Pacific Northwest and Mountain states, with three facilities in the Puget Sound.
“Our name is really the only thing that has changed,” said David Miller, DLA Bangor customer account manager. “All of our services and products are still in place and we are here to support the warfighter and all of the DoD as we always have.”
