Getting organized in 2010
The new year can bring hope as well as resolutions. Unfortunately by late February all these bright hopes have been transformed into distant memories. If you are feeling disorganized, scattered or frustrated as a result, it’s time to get organized. When it comes to being organized, we can be our own worst enemies.
Whether it our home, job or personal life, getting organized can help us feel more successful or accomplished. Organization can be the key to your personal success. This year can be your most organized year yet, if you follow these simple tips:
SET GOALS WITH DEADLINES. The first step in getting organized is goal setting. Jot down exactly what you want to do, and designate a deadline for accomplishing that goal (e.g. April 10, or July 7, etc.).
MAKE MINI-GOALS. For instance, instead of organizing your entire house, choose one room at a time. Breaking your goals down into smaller tasks are easier to accomplish and can lead to feeling more successful.
LAUGH AT MINOR SETBACKS. Don’t expect everything to run perfectly smooth. As with any change, things sometimes don’t work out the way we want them to. Don’t get discouraged. Readjusting your goal date may be necessary to keep you on track. It’s better to get back on track and feel successful than to give up.
DESIGNATE REWARDS. Every goal achieved should be celebrated. Always designate a gratifying reward for each goal you accomplish. A reward acts as a motivator and helps you achieve future objectives.
KEEP A ‘CAN DO’ ATTITUDE. Attitude is everything. Positive thinking is the key to success. If you believe that you can achieve your goal you will. Never let go of that thought, especially if the road gets tough.
Organization takes a lot of time in the beginning the rewards are great once you get there.
