Navy ships depart Everett for Seafair

The Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser USS Princeton (CG 59) and Whidbey Island-class amphibious dock landing
USS Germantown (LSD 42) departed Naval Station Everett for Seattle to participate in Seafair festivities, July 29. Both ships,
home ported in San Diego, made an overnight stop at NAVSTA Everett prior to leaving for the Seattle Seafair festivities.
While at Everett the crews of both ships were treated to a barbecue and other recreational activities by the NAVSTA Everett
Morale, Welfare, and Recreation staff.
Princeton and Germantown also took part in the Parade of Ships ceremony in Seattle on Wednesday.
“This is a new thing for me,” said Electronics Technician 3rd Class Vincent Adkins, stationed in USS Princeton. “I’ve never
been part of anything like this, and am really looking forward to taking part in all of it.”
Before departing Everett, USS Princeton welcomed on board more than 100 guests and Germantown welcomed 200. The
guests made the journey with the ships and crews to Seattle on Tuesday.
Seafair is an annual event which takes place in Seattle. This is the 59th annual Seafair celebration. The event involves arts
and crafts, rides, contests, Blue Angel demonstrations, hydro-plane races, and live music.
Ship tours will also be offered by Germantown and Princeton, as visiting Coast Guard and Canadian vessels.
