The VAQ-130 Zappers are the proud winners of the Spring 2005 COMVAQWINGPAC Tactical Exercise.
Capt. Robert Field, Commander COMVAQWINGPAC, announced on June 21 that the Zappers had beaten the competition of four other squadrons to become “Prowler TACEX King of the Hill.”

AE3(AW) Lisa Drake of VAQ-133 was selected to be part of the 2006 Navy Flight Demonstration Team, the Blue Angels.
They selected 27 people this year Navy-wide. Cmdr. Stephen Foley, Commanding Officer of the Navy Flight Demonstration team said, “Congratulations to all those selected. Competition was extremely keen this year.”

Patrol Squadron One’s combat aircrew one enjoyed a rather unique opportunity recently as they traveled to MCAS Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, to take part in the live-fire exercise, “Patrolling Thunder.”
The exercise was structured around the scuttling of the decommissioned dock landing ship USS Mount Vernon (LSD 39), and took place on June 16 off the northwest coast of the island of Kauai.

VP-46’s Grey Knights recently took part in Patrolling Thunder SinkEx in Hawaii. The objective was to sink the ex-USS Mount Vernon, an LSD class ship that was commissioned into the Navy’s fleet on May 13, 1972, and decommissioned on July 25, 2003.

Electronic Attack Squadron 129 and the Whidbey Roost of the Association of Old Crows hosted the 32nd annual Electronic Warfare Symposium aboard NAS Whidbey Island May 16-18.
Military and civilian professionals from across the EW community discussed current and developing electronic warfare tactics, current operations in Iraq and Afghanistan and future plans for the EW Community at large. Attendees included representatives from the four uniformed services, DoD civilian employees, and industry representatives including AAI Corp., ATK Missile Systems, The Boeing Company, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, Teledyne and Titan Corporation.

The VAQ-130 Zappers said goodbye to one of their best on June 14.
Senior Chief Petty Officer Leialoha Kuapahi retired from active duty service in a relaxed and friendly ceremony at the Chief Petty Officers’ Club.
A much-loved member of the squadron, his strong personality and even stronger work ethic made him a valuable asset to Zappers of all ranks.
