The big kickoff
Friday, April 1, at the Recycle Center on Langley Boulevard, Bldg. 2555, 10 a.m. Cake-cutting ceremony.
Housing spring cleanup dropoff service
Friday, April 1 through Friday, April 29. NASWI PPV residents may bring large, bulky, unwanted household items (furniture, large appliances, etc.) for drop-off to the Recycle Center. Exceptions (items not accepted): Refrigerators/freezers, paint or any kind of hazardous material, tires, and propane bottles. Hours for dropoff: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday throughout April. Proof of residency required.
Housing spring cleanup pickup service
Monday, April 4, through Friday, April 8. Truck crews will drive to pre-appointed residences to retrieve unwanted items. Pickup by appointment only; appointments only for families of currently deployed service members and single parents. Appointments will be taken through Friday, April 8. Residents required to place their items either curbside or in their carport on the day of pick-up (not before), and to be present for pickup. Contact Navy Whidbey Recycle at 257-5481.
Emergency spill response demonstration
Tuesday, April 6, in the waters off Polnell Point. Point of Contact, James Johnson, NAS Environmental Office, 257-4430.
Dumpster diving championship
Wednesday, April 13, at the Recycle Center. Kick-off at 10 a.m. Eight teams welcome on first-come, first-served basis. Cash prizes awarded for local MWR programs. Participants must have coveralls and gloves; costumes are highly encouraged.
Earth Day beach cleanup
Friday, April 22, at Seaplane Base’s Earth Day Park. Kick-off at 10 a.m. Barbecue sponsored by Center for Naval Technical Training Unit (CNATTU) will follow at approximately 1 p.m.
