Making appointments at your Navy hospital

Olivia Terry has her two-day weight check at Naval Hospital Oak Harbor.

Naval Hospital Oak Harbor has a number of same-day appointments available Monday through Friday. However, these appointments fill up quickly, especially during the flu season.

If you require a same-day appointment, call TRAC at 1-800-404-4506 Option #6 starting at 7 a.m.  If the clerk tells you there is nothing that day or the next, ask to be placed on the Unbooked Appointment Report (UAR). Someone from the clinic should call you within 24 hours. Just be sure your contact numbers are up-to-date.

You can also make appointments on-line by registering with TRICAREOnline.com.  Follow the directions on the screen to complete your registration. You will need a username and password for each family member account.

If you cannot wait until the next day for an appointment, the Urgent Care Clinic hours are 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday; and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and holidays.

After-hours assistance is available by calling 1-866-869-6493. This Provider Assistance Line becomes available when the UCC closes. You will receive advice for home care treatment or whether you should go to an emergency room for immediate care.

Please note that prescriptions and diagnosis of illness can not be accomplished over the phone.

In the event of a true life-threatening emergency like loss of limb, sight, uncontrollable bleeding or vomiting, and chest pain, call 9-1-1 or go to the closest emergency room.

OB/GYN Services

Unless otherwise notified by the OB/GYN clinic providers, these appointments are booked through TRAC at 1 (800) 404-4506. If TRAC cannot schedule an appointment in a reasonable timeframe, they will provide information for booking alternatives. For more urgent care, you may walk in the clinic and be seen the same day. OB/GYN hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Labor and Delivery

Patients 20 weeks pregnant or more who wish to be seen by the Labor and Delivery staff should call (360) 257-9777 before arriving at the clinic.  This will ensure the clinic is adequately staffed to meet your medical needs.

It’s important that patients needing urgent medical care off-island call the Navy hospital’s labor and delivery staff ahead of time so they can answer questions about the patient’s medical and health history.

Two-Day Weight Checks

TRICARE Prime beneficiaries with a newborn can get a timeframe for a two-day weight check by calling the inpatient Multiservice Ward at 257-9727.

The hospital can also work to facilitate the newborn/child’s two-week well baby visit in the Pediatric Clinic by calling Valerie Petersen at 257-9782.

Families with newborns, regardless of enrollment status, need to enroll the newborn into Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) at Personnel Support Detachment (PSD) so that the newborn is in the military identification/enrollment system.

It is difficult for TRAC to make an appointment for a patient not enrolled in DEERS. After enrolling the newborn, parents should report to Outpatient Records and establish the baby’s medical record.

Keep in mind that cell phone reception is not always optimal. If your phone call is not returned in the prescribed timeframe, it may be because there was static on the line or poor reception and your message or request wasn’t clear.  Please call again and leave another message.
