Whidbey Island Campus student Avionics Technician 2nd Class David Cradduck was recently awarded the prestigious Worldwide Faculty and Staff Scholarship of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.

The award certificate was formally presented to Cradduck in the classroom on Nov. 1 by the Embry-Riddle campus director.

He was selected for one of five $1,000 scholarships awarded from over 40 final candidates.

The surprise announcement was met with much applause from Cradduck’s classmates.

Cradduck is ultimately striving to be commissioned as a naval officer and pilot. He is currently in his senior academic year with Embry-Riddle and is nearing completion of his Bachelor of science in professional aeronautics degree with a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

When not performing military duties at Fleet Readiness Center Northwest, Cradduck is always among the first to enroll each term.

His motivation to excel is reflected by the fact that he submitted his scholarship application and essay on the first day after student notification.

Award of the Worldwide Faculty and Staff Scholarship is a solid testament to Cradduck’s exemplary performance as a Sailor and as a student, and bodes very well for both the United States Navy and the university.
