Schuster re-enlists after 4 years with Black Ravens

VAQ-135 was honored to re-enlist one of its best Oct. 4.
AME2 David J. Schuster repeated the oath in front of the Prowler Memorial before an audience of friends and supporters.
Schuster has spent his entire four years of naval service among the
Black Ravens and has become one of the squadron’s most steadfast and reliable members. He has gone on two cruises and taken part in Operations Enduring and Iraqi Freedom. He has also served under four of the squadron’s commanding officers.
His years as a Black Raven have been both rewarding and challenging, and he believes that his coming rotation out of the squadron will be on a high note.
A model Sailor with a long record of exemplary performance, Schuster has been named VAQ-135’s Safety Pro twice, once for pulling a shipmate away from a jet intake just in time to prevent his ingestion and the other for discovering a leaking liquid oxygen tank on a jet post flight.
A dedicated team player, Schuster has worked to improve the lifestyles of his shipmates by sharing his knowledge of fitness. He has completed the Command Fitness Leader course and played an integral role in the development and execution of the squadron’s recently instituted physical training program.
Cmdr. Pat M. Walsh, commanding officer, said during the re-enlistment,
“He is the epitome of professionalism. He always has the right answer.
He serves as a model not only for his peers and the people he has working under him, but for the officers as well.”
