The Washington State Recycling Association (WSRA) is a diverse organization that has membership associated with all levels of government as well as businesses, major companies and educational institutions.

NAS Whidbey Recycle Department has been a part of that network for a number of years, sharing resources and information on how to improve Washington’s recycling percentages and facilities at all levels.

“WSRA tries to travel around the state to visit facilities and to learn more about the programs across Washington,” said Diana Perey, WSRA president. “I had been to Whidbey Island three times before, but many of our board members had not. Paul (Brewer) has received so many awards for his fabulous program that it made a good choice for a site visit.”

“This tour (to NAS Whidbey Recycle Department) was awe inspiring for them,” said Perey. “The board members were amazed at the scope of the recycling center at NAS Whidbey, especially the composting operation. It’s unbelievable! Our board members took some great ideas away with them.”
