WorkSource to host bi-annual job
The tenth WorkSource Whidbey Semi-Annual Island County Job Fair opens Thursday, Oct. 28, from noon to 5 p.m. at the Elks’ Lodge, 155 N. E. Ernst St., Oak Harbor.
Past Job Fairs have featured over 20 local employers, making it the best place for job seekers on Whidbey Island to meet prospective employers.
Preparation is the key to a successful Job Fair experience. Job seekers should bring their rÈsumÈ and be prepared to fill out applications. A copy of your master application from TAP class or a pre-filled out application from WorkSource will make it easy to fill out an employer’s application on-site.
Many local employers will interview qualified candidates during the job fair. With over 360 job seekers at the last job fair, you need to make yourself standout from the crowd. WorkSource Whidbey is a key partner in Navy Region Northwest’s
Transition Assistance Program (TAP) and the Spouse Employment Assistance Program (SEAP). In addition to the semi-annual job fairs, they offer free services to assist job seekers in obtaining employment, including computers with a variety of job search software and Internet access, career assessment programs, and workshops to learn job-hunting skills.
The Employment Security Department’s Veteran’s Representative is onsite every Thursday from 9 a.m.-noon to assist separating and retiring military members and veterans. WorkSource Whidbey is located at 31975 SR 20, Suite 3, in Oak Harbor.
