Yellow Jackets complete HARM exercise

The VAQ-138 Yellow Jackets recently returned from a successful High-Speed Anti-Radiation Missile shoot within the Pacific Missile
Test Range located near Naval Base Ventura County, Point Mugu, Calif.
While there, the crew executed a complex multi-air wing HARM Exercise that involved seven Strike Fighter squadrons and one Electronic
Attack squadron, shooting a total of 10 HARM (AGM-88B) at a surface target off the coast Point Mugu, located just north of Los Angeles.
The Yellow Jacket team integrated seamlessly with both Carrier Air Wing Eight (CVW 8) and Carrier Air Wing NINE (CVW 9) VFA squadrons
operating from Naval Air Station Fallon, Nev., and Naval Air Station Lemoore, Calif., respectively.
The Yellow Jackets flew two EA-6Bs to Point Mugu from Naval Air Station Whidbey Island and conducted the HARMEX the following day.
The Yellow Jackets simultaneously fired one HARM each from their two Improved Capabilities Generation Three (ICAP III) EA-6B Prowlers.
Both missiles flew off the rails without a hitch and struck their intended surface target with amazing precision.
The successful HARM shoot marks only the second time the Yellow Jackets have fired HARM from ICAP III EA-6Bs, and the first during a
scheduled work-up cycle.
The Yellow Jackets are one of only four VAQ squadrons equipped with the latest ICAP III Block 2 Weapons System and are currently preparing
for a second deployment with the ICAP III EA-6B.
This version of the EA-6B brings improved tactical aircrew displays, battlespace situational awareness via Joint Tactical Information Distribution
System, also known as Link-16 data link system, and automated electronic attack response capability.
